RALSTON, Neb. (January 22, 2025) – Fans and competitors from every part of the country traveled to Ralston, Nebraska and packed out the Liberty First Credit Union Arena for the 2025 AAU Wrestling Winter Youth Nationals. Championship chains have been awarded so now it’s time to clean up the mats and recap the action.
January 4th and 5th saw 1,225 wrestlers make the journey to compete for the coveted championship chain. Boys and girls were split up by age: Tots (6u), Bantam (7 & 8), Midget (boys 9-10, girls 9-11), Novice (boys 11 & 12), School Boy (13-15) and School Girl (12-15). Saturday, January 4 started the action with Bantam and School Boy groups tying up on the mats.
We had returning champions back to defend their crown in a new weight class as well as some new athletes looking to make a name for themselves. Colter Frain (Powerhouse Wrestling Club) was back defend his Championship chain for yet another year and that’s exactly what he would do. Colter is now a 6-time winner at AAU Winter Nationals as he dominated in the Novice 95-pound division. Jauzlyean Gray (Jackson County) joined Colter as a returning and defending champion this year as she took home first place in the School Girl 130-pound division.
Blair Wrestling Club, Collum Trained, Contenders Wrestling Academy, and Hawkeye Wrestling Academy all finished the weekend with perfect 5-0 records. Moen Wrestling Academy saw a total of 203 wins across the tournament and finished with the most total match points at 1,595 points.
Champions in each weight class earned the Winter Nationals Championship Chain while trophies were presented to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. To see a complete list of results, visit Trackwrestling and search “AAU Winter Nationals.”
