2025 AAU Music City Brawl
Dates: January 4, 2025
Location: Franklin, Tennessee
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (January 22, 2025) -- For the sixteenth (16th) year, the AAU Music City Brawl Nationals took over Tennessee and brought wrestlers from all over to the mat. This was the third year of the event being recognized as an official AAU National Championship, and this year brought in more wrestlers to compete for a title.
Last year saw 958 athletes from 11 different states make the trip. This year pinned those numbers down to the mat and beat them in a big way. With 14 mats lined up in Franklin Ag Expo Park, more than 1,100 competitors laced ‘em up with a dream of an AAU National title in mind.
Wrestlers were divided into eight (8) divisions: Tot, Bantam, Midget, Junior, Middle School, Girls k-2nd, Girls 3rd-5th, and Girls 6th – 8th. The matches started bright and early on Saturday, January 4, and the action was non-stop until the final winners arms were raised in victory.
A few teams and individuals stood out during the competition as they posed their will in most of their matches. Rabbit Wrestling Club had a huge day as they led the way with the most pins in the least amount of time with 69 pins in 94:14. They also finished the day with the second most total match points with 895. Williamson County Wrestling Club ended the day with the most match points total at 1,293 and 57 pins along the way.
Hollis Park with Sumner County Wrestling Club ended the day with 76 total match points, which was top of all wrestlers. Stephen Strickland with Backyard Brawlers earned 33.5 points for his team on the day. And Thomas Moore with Webb School of Knoxville showed out in his home state earning 26 points in a single match, tying with Tucker Crow with SEWC for the most in a match on the day.
A few wrestlers were back to defend their crown from last year and add to their multiple AAU Music City Brawl championships. Kalix Kilpatric of Grindhouse moved up from Junior 70 to Junior 75 and saw the same result – a first place finish. Kalix won by technical fall in the first place match against Roger Caputo of Rabbit Wrestling Club. Piper Soto (Team Clay) moved up to the Girls 6th-8th grade 140 division and captured a second place finish behind Kailee Miller of Cleveland Wrestling Club. Miyon Alkubechy of Team Clarksville Wrestling Club was back after winning the junior 90 division last year. This year Miyon took home the 2nd place final in the Middle School 110 division while Alexander Whitted (Champions Path) claimed the title this year.
