ORLANDO, Fla. (March 14, 2025) -- John "Moose" Axsom has been appointed to the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Board of Directors as AAU's Legislation Committee Chair. He attended the recent AAU Board of Directors meeting in Orlando, Florida on March 8th.
John "Moose" Axsom has been a leader in the Virginia AAU District for many years and has been creating opportunities for athletes through his sport of Karate.
"My deepest gratitude to President Mirza and the rest of the officers for bestowing on me this important service position," said John Axsom, AAU Legislation Chair. "I promise to do all I am able to advance the AAU's mission and the amazing work that has already begun."
A leader in the Virginia AAU District, John "Moose" Axsom is the current Director of AAU Karate Virginia as well as being the coach of the AAU Karate National Team. His impact on AAU Karate has been felt by each member of the AAU.
Axsom stands out as a dynamic individual who has made significant contributions in education, martial arts, community leadership, and volunteer service. His diverse achievements showcase a lifelong commitment to excellence, leadership, and community engagement.
Axsom holds multiple advanced degrees in traditional Okinawa Disciplines; a 6th Degree Black Belt (Rokudan) in Shorin-Ryu Karate and a 4th Degree Black Belt (Youdan) in Kokusai Rengokai Kodubo. To say Axsom is a professional in the world of Karate would be an understatement.
John "Moose" Axsom has dedicated his life to leadership, service, and continuous growth. His contributions to education, martial arts, and community development will be felt as he assumes a new position as the AAU's Legislation Committee Chair.
