2025 AAU Indoor Track and Field National Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH (March 5, 2025) – We are on the final straight away as we sprint towards the finish line of the AAU Indoor Track and Field season. The culminating event in the indoor season is here. The 2025 AAU Indoor Track and Field National Championships will bring athletes to Virgina Beach from March 7-9, 2025.
In the event’s tenth (10th) year, the AAU Indoor Track and Field National Championships will bring together the top youth athletes in the nation for one final chance to capture an AAU championship this season.
For the fifth (5th) year in a row, the Virginia Beach Sports Center will play host to 3,000 athletes, the event’s athlete capacity. The facility is known for its 200 meter hydraulically banked track, with an 8-lane straightaway. Race-walk will kick things off on Friday, March 7 with 200m dash heats taking to the starting line after. The top eight (8) times will be advancing to the final heats.
This year’s AAU Indoor National Championships will see athletes make the journey from 37 different states and Canada. A total of 209 teams and 193 unattached athletes will compete for an opportunity at gold. One name to keep an eye on this year is Cayla Hawkins of Track Life University. Cayla is in 8th grade and racing in the 15-16 girls division 400m and 200m sprints. She is looking to defend her title but will have tough competition with Amira Whitehead in the 200m and Yollanda Calhoun in the 400m.

The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by nearly 800,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers.
