SAAU Program History
The Southern AAU (SAAU) was founded in 1892 and is comprised of the states of Louisiana & Mississippi. The basketball program came to prominence in 1980 when Metairie hosted the newly minted AAU National Championships. Since that time, SAAU has seen a large share of prominent AAU members who have gone on to both outstanding NCAA & NBA playing careers as well. SAAU has been blessed to have many AAU clubs and coaches who remain active for over 20-25 years.
