FUJAIRAH (May 27, 2025) – Some of the brightest athletes in youth Taekwondo traveled to Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates to compete at the 2025 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships. AAU Taekwondo had a few members representing at the event, including one who brought home some hardware.
The World Taekwondo Cadet Championships is a premier international event for youth athletes, showcasing elite teams and clubs from all around the globe. One of the athletes who represented for the United States and for AAU Taekwondo was Texas’ own, Taylor Gavin.
Taylor Gavin made the state of Texas proud as she represented the United States in the Women’s 51kg division and brought home the World Silver Medal! Over the course of the week-long event, Taylor competed in 6 fights total. She competed against Iran, India, Bulgaria, Portugal, Korea, and had a battle with Turkey in the championship match.
“In my extensive experience, Taylor Jo Gavin stands out as one of the most gifted individuals I've encountered,” said Taylor’s coach, Master Gianni Giambi. “While her reaction time is exceptional, it is her foresight and strategic thinking that truly set her apart from the competition. Coupled with her strong work ethic and the backing of her family, there are no boundaries to what she can accomplish.”
When asked about what advice she may have for athletes who strive to compete on the world stage, Taylor Gavin says to focus on one match at a time, and try to have some fun.
Join us celebrating this incredible athletic achievement! Congratulations to Taylor Gavin, you represented the United States and AAU Taekwondo in front of a global audience. Your earned medal is truly a measure of your success, preparation, and dedication. We can’t wait to see how far you will go in this sport and in life!
