ORLANDO, Fla. (July 1, 2025) - The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is set to host the 2025 AAU Boys Basketball World Championships this summer at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. The event will be played at the state-of-the-art ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from July 3 through July 10, 2025.
“Since 1997, hundreds of thousands of athletes have played AAU at ESPN Wide World of Sports and have made lasting memories at these world-class facilities,” said Jo Mirza, AAU President. “This event brings an excitement and energy that is unlike any other and moments are made on these courts that athletes will remember forever.”
This is the 6th year of the event since rebranding to the AAU Basketball World Championships and the 26th time it will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Since opening in 1997, the sports complex has been the home of AAU Basketball’s biggest event of the summer, which has featured many of the best youth basketball players in the world including future college, NBA and WNBA players. The sports complex has also hosted several other major basketball events including the NBA Finals in 2020, the ESPN Events Invitational college basketball tournament, and the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
More than 9,500 athletes will compete in the event with representation from 38 states as well as eight (8) countries and territories including Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, England, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The event is sold out with a total of 730 teams making the trip with hopes of earning an AAU World Championship.
Division I, II, and III athletes will have an opportunity to showcase their skills throughout the penultimate event for the AAU Basketball summer. All age groups except 10U and 17U Division 3 will be hosted at ESPN Wide World of Sports. 10U and 17U Division 3, bringing in an additional 100 teams, will start things off in Hampton, Virginia at the Boo Williams Sportsplex from June 27 - June 29, 2025. Tip-off at ESPN Wide World of Sports will happen with 14U/8th Grade through 19U/12th Grade divisions on July 3 – July 6, and conclude with 7U/1st Grade through 13U/7th Grade divisions on July 7 – July 10.
