Nominate Your AAU Coach for the PCA’s Double-Goal Coach Award

09/16/2022

AAU Programs and the award-winning coaches will receive national publicity, a cash prize, and provide an opportunity to show how important coaching is

ORLANDO, Fla. (September 16, 2022) – Coaches do so much more than just teach the X’s and O’s of a game. They are not just there to tell the players how to win on the playing surface. They are also there to help guide young players in life.

Often time’s players spend more time with their coaches than anyone else outside of the home environment. The Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) believes that coaches set the standard for athletes to be leaders. While winning is important, it is more important that coaches teach life lessons through sports. We consider a coach that focuses on both of these outcomes to be a Double-Goal Coach®.

If you have a coach who strives to win while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports, nominate them today for Positive Coaching Alliance’s Double-Goal Coach Award presented by TeamSnap. Each year the PCA announces 100 regional winners who are promoted nationally. From the group of 100, the committee will select 25 National Winners, who each receive $500. National Winners and PCA's Coach of the Year will be recognized at our "Game Changer Awards & Benefit" in January/February 2023.

Thanks to the generosity of the Taube Family Foundation, one special coach will win the Taube Family Prize in Recognition of Excellence in Coaching and be named PCA’s National Coach of the Year. This prize, to be awarded later in the spring, will include $10,000 ($2,500 to the coach and $7,500 to the youth sports organization or school of their choice).

In 2022, sixteen coaches from AAU programs were named Regional Winners of PCA’s Double-Goal Coach Award. Of those sixteen coaches, four were honored as 2022 National Winners of PCA’s Double-Goal Coach Award. In 2019, AAU’s own, Charlean Crowell won the First-ever PCA Grand Prize for her dedication to her athletes both on and off the court.

If you believe you have a coach that has the qualities to be a Double-Goal Coach Award winner, nominate them now. Nominations will end on October 31, 2022.
