VIRGINIA BEACH, Vir. (2022) – The AAU Track and Field 2022 Indoor season is reaching the finish line. The season will wrap up with the AAU Indoor Track & Field National Championships presented by NOVEC and TeamIP. The event will take place in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 11 – 13, 2022. Athletes from coast to coast will race to the Virginia Beach Sports Center for one final opportunity at taking home an Indoor AAU title.

Starting in 2015, the AAU Indoor National Championship has been going on for seven years now with continuous growth. This will be the second year in a row that the Virginia Beach Sports Center will play host, with more than 3,000 athletes are expected to take their marks on the track.

Over the weekend, participants will be competing to walk away with an indoor title. The top 8 finishers in individual and relay events will be receiving awards. Athletes from 5 years old to 18 years old will be competing over the weekend with 31 states being represented at the national championship.

Athletes will have the opportunity to race in one of the finest facilities in the nation. The Virginia Beach Sports Center indoor track facility features a 200 meter, hydraulically banked track, 8-lane straightaway as well as providing 6 lanes around the oval. The facility can hold 5,000 spectators and is just steps away from local shops, restaurants, and attractions, including the beautiful boardwalk and beaches of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

For the second straight year, NOVEC and AAU Track & Field will be teaming up to host the event. This gives two Troy University Track and Field alumni the chance to work together and grow the sport. Charles ‘Coach O’ Oliver, the AAU Track and Field National Chair, and Wilbur Rollins, NOVEC’s Senior Vice President, are excited to work together. AAU and NOVEC collaborate to offer a top-notch event for AAU members, parents, and coaches nationwide.

“As a participant in AAU events in Montgomery, Alabama in the mid-1970s, and in track and field for many years, I appreciate the leadership and team building values afforded by participating in these events at a young age,” said Rollins.

Coach O added, “The opportunity for us to work together on the AAU Indoor National Championship allows us to bring the resources of the two organizations together to provide a strong competitive opportunity for the youth.”

Event packets will be ready for pickup at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 11. The event will be streaming live on Flotrack and live results can be found with AdkinsTrack Timing Associates and on www.coacho.com.
