NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – More than 200 AAU divers took the plunge to compete for the title of nation’s best at the 2020 AAU Diving National Championships hosted by the Forest Park Aquatic Center in Noblesville, Indiana, about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis.
 
By the time the water settled and the medals were awarded, more than 3,000 dives were completed. RipFest Diving Club’s men and women both accrued the highest team score in each gender, totaling 429.50 points in the men’s division and 575.00 in the women’s for a grand total of 1004.50.
 
Several athletes won multiple events in the competition, highlighted by Ryden Russell from Ohio State Diving Club, who took home four gold medals, winning the Group D Boys 3M, Tower as well as the 13U 3M synchronized with Leyton Dean and the 13 1M synchronized with Jackson Monus.

Due to the national health pandemic causing strains on practice time for many divers across the country, the qualifications for the 2020 AAU Diving National Championships were waived and participants were entered at their coaches’ discretion. This allowed the event to continue at a competitive level with strict safety procedures in place at the facility.
