ORLANDO, Fla. (May 28, 2025) - This Memorial Day weekend, over 585 teams travelled to both ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center to participate in the Amateur Athletic Union’s 14th Memorial Day Classic.
Teams travelled from across the state of Florida, as well as New York, California, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and more with the hopes of bringing home an AAU Championship. The event also had international participants travelling from Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada.
The energy this weekend was off the charts as all three arenas across ESPN Wide World of Sports and the west concourse of the Orange County Convention Center were jam-packed with AAU athletes from all around. Six thousand (6,000) athletes from 2nd grade to 12th grade competed over the long weekend, but only a select few would capture an AAU medal and championship trophy.
We are incredibly grateful to all athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators who took time out of the holiday weekend to participate in this event. The passionate energy brought from each team made this event even more memorable. Now, it’s time to gear up for the AAU Basketball World Championships taking place at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, VA, Knoxville, TN, and Orlando, FL from June 26-July 6. and To learn more about the events, please visit aausports.org/boys-basketball and aausports.org/girls-basketball.
