ORLANDO, Fla. (May 22, 2025) – Athletes from 13 states as well as Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico, will bring it all this weekend for the 14th edition of the Amateur Athletic Union’s Memorial Day Classic. This event, hosted at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, will serve as a forerunner to the fast-approaching AAU Basketball World Championships hosted this summer.
From May 24-26, over 585 teams will take to the courts in both boys’ and girls’ action. Teams from New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Ohio, California, Missouri, Nevada, and more, including a large footprint from Florida will also be traveling across the country to Orlando to compete.
There will be 19 age groups, 2nd grade 12th grade on the boys’ side and 5th grade – 12th grade on the girls’ side. Champions from previous years will return to defend their championship titles while new teams make the journey for the first time hoping to capture championship gold
“Partnering with ESPN Wide World of Sports is always an exciting time,” said AAU President, Jo Mirza. “We’re excited to host one of AAU Basketball’s premier events with them again this year.”
For the fourteenth year in a row, the AAU Memorial Day Classic continues to be a prime showcase of youth sports. Drawing thousands of athletes, parents, and coaches across the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico, the tournament highlights the shared passion for the game of basketball.
