JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 7, 2025) – The ice is prepped and the skates are laced. We are underway at the 2025 AAU College Hockey National Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. For the first time in the event’s history, the national championships headed south. But the goal is still the same – raising an AAU National Championship.
College hockey teams from all over the country have made their way to Community First Igloo with hopes of dominating the blue line and putting pucks in the net throughout their quest to an AAU title. The Community First Igloo is Jacksonville, Florida’s premier destination for ice sports, proudly serving as the practice facility of the Jacksonville Icemen which is one of the top teams in the ECHL.
Beyond professional hockey, the facility is a hub for amateur hockey leagues, ice skating clubs, and university-level competition, including the University of Florida Gators club hockey team, who are looking to defend their home ice with stiff competition coming to their barn.
This year’s tournament has been split into two separate weeks with Division 1 & Women’s brackets competing March 5 – 9, and Division 2 & Division 3 brackets taking the ice from March 18 – 25. 2025 marks the sixth (6th) season for AAU College Hockey (formerly known as College Hockey Federation) and to celebrate, this year’s event will be the largest National Championship in the sport’s history with 52 teams in total traveling to the south.
The women’s division will see the University of Tampa Spartans returning to avenge their loss in the title game last year. The Georgia Bulldogs lead the way as the 1 seed in Division 1 play with the defending champion South Carolina Gamecocks at the head of Pool C. Florida Atlantic University will enter the Division II bracket as the top seed with the Liberty University Flames hosting the top spot in Division III.
Games are already underway for the Division I and Women’s pool play. The University of Buffalo captured the first shutout in day 1 behind goalie Gavin Kreutzer who stopped all 25 shots he saw in the game. Florida Gators star Noah Horwitz led his team in an upset over Tennessee on the first day of competition. To see all results and the upcoming schedule each day, click here.
