SportsEvents Magazine has honored AAU events and leaders since 2017. Last year, the AAU took home three awards. This year, we have upped our game and cleared off more space in our trophy section. President Jo Mirza, two of AAU’s biggest events of the year, and New England AAU's Todd Skovron have been recognized again for the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards.
For the second year in a row, President Mirza has been recognized by the SportsEvents Readers' Choice Awards as an Emerging Sports Events Industry Leader. Serving as AAU's 49th president, President Mirza has dedicated more than five (5) decades of service to the AAU at the local, national, and international levels. President Mirza is also being recognized as one of the top Emerging Sports Events Planners.
The 2024 AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships has won the Best Live or Virtual Sporting Event this year while the 2025 edition of the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships has been recognized as one of the Most Anticipated Sporting Events to Watch.
The AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships has been a premier event in the amateur sports world for the past 50 years. In 2024, the 52nd edition of the event is more anticipated than ever before, as the number of participants is expected to grow once again to record numbers.
Rounding things out is AAU’s premier event of the summer. The AAU Junior Olympic Games has also been recognized in the category of The Most Anticipated Sporting Event to Watch. The AAU Junior Olympic Games is the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States. The 58th edition was held over the summer of 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
