FLORENCE, S.C (NOVEMBER 1) -- Louise Peck, a pillar in SC Gymnastics, passed away on November 1, 2023. Louise was a true pioneer of South Carolina Gymnastics beginning her coaching career in 1967, and continuing to be the head coach and director of Florence Gymscamps for 23 years. Louise began her judging career in 1969, becoming the first rated gymnastics judge in the state of SC and one of the original members of NAWGJ established in 1971. She became an Elite (National) level judge in 1993 and continued to hold her rating until 2021.
Louise was inducted into the AAU Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2018. Her service to AAU Gymnastics stretched far and wide in South Carolina. She believed in the gymnasts who did not believe in themselves. Louise showed each gymnast what true perseverance is and guided them to become successful in everything they do. She lives on through the countless gymnasts' lives she touched.
Louise was one of the original members of the SC State Administrative Committee serving as the chair of the fundraising committee from 1990 to 2013. She also served on the SC NAWGJ board in a similar role for more than 10 years. Furthermore, Louise was the AAU District Director for 30 years. She was an amazing woman, who had a tremendous impact on our sport, and will be greatly missed.
