DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT: Ohio AAU District’s 2023 Grant Program

Ohio AAU is working to grow AAU Events and Programs in the Ohio District

OHIO (February 7, 2023) – The Ohio AAU District Board of Governors is working to create high quality and competitive AAU events in the Ohio District. The purpose of this Grant Program is to grow the overall youth membership in AAU by increasing the number of members, sanctioned events, and programs in Ohio during the 2022-2023 year.

Providing high quality and competitive AAU events is what will bring in more members, and that is what the Ohio AAU District is dedicated to doing. The Ohio AAU District Board of Governors has determined an overall amount of $15,000 will be available for the 2023 Grant period to one or more Ohio AAU Sport Directors & members.

This is the eighth (8th) year of the Ohio AAU Grant Program and the awareness and popularity has grown rapidly. This year will be the largest amount of grant money awarded in the history of the program.

The award of $15,000 will be available for the 2023 Grant period to one or more Ohio AAU Sport Directors & members who submit a written grant proposal which is accepted by the Board. Acceptance by the Board means that the grant request (in the view of the Board) demonstrates a sound business proposal to grow the number of Ohio AAU Sanctioned Events & Programs in their Sport, which in turn will grow Ohio AAU Membership for that specific Sport.

Below are the conditions and requirements to apply:
  • Only Ohio AAU Sport Directors/Adult Members in good standing with the Ohio AAU can submit Grant proposals.
  • Winning proposals must agree to cooperate with the Board in a post‐event analysis.
  • Total amount of grant funds awarded will be determined by the Ohio AAU Board.
  • The Grant Program is subject to modification or termination by the Board at any time
  • The proposal must lay out a specific business plan to include the events & associated costs, timing, & funds requested.
  • The proposal must also estimate the anticipated new AAU memberships & provide the logic for the estimate.
  • The proposals will be evaluated by the Board & awarded based on the merits of the business case, funds requested & payment timing, new membership estimate, & how the funds will be spent.
  • Winning grant applications will be determined by a majority (3) of the 5-person Executive Board.
  • Winning grant funds will be awarded prior to the proposed activity based on the timing requested.
  • Winning grant recipient will email an electronic post event grant use summary encompassing implementation of funds including participation and membership growth data on or before August 31, 2023.
