ORLANDO, Fla. (March 14, 2022) – The nets are raised, the balls are pumped, the lights are bright; we are back in action for the 2022 AAU Volleyball season. Athletes are ready to hit the courts at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida for the 2022 AAU Volleyball Classic.
Starting in 2002, the AAU Volleyball Classic has been going strong for 20 years now. This year, athletes will be set to spike the competition on March 19-20. This will be the first time in 2 years that ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex hosts the event.
The two-day event will host 124 teams from Florida and Massachusetts. 1,500 competitors will take to the court with athletes in age divisions from 10 and under up to 18 and under. Non-stop action will be taking place all day across 18 courts.
Saturday, March 19, will begin pool play. This will set up the bracket for Championship Sunday. Teams will play in a single elimination bracket until AAU crowns nine champions. Winning teams will earn a free or discounted entry fee for the AAU National Championships, the West Coast Championships, or the Volleyball Festival.
“We’re very excited to be back at ESPN Wide World of Sports for this year’s AAU Volleyball Classic,” said Melanie Foxworth, AAU Volleyball Sport Manager.
Registration will be on March 18 starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Arena at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex. For the most up to date information, check the 2022 AAU Volleyball Classic tournament page.
