ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (January 7, 2022) – On your marks. Get set. Go… to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 2022 AAU Southwest Indoor Championship. Athletes will be racing from around the southwest to compete on the track on Saturday, January 15.
An estimate of 250 to 300 participants will be traveling from four states to compete against one another. Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas will all be represented at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
This is the second year of the AAU Southwest Indoor Championships, however, it is the first time since 2020. This year, participants have a new track to look forward to. The Albuquerque Convention Center has purchased a new Mondo Track surface and this year’s participants will be the first group to compete on it.
Athletes of all ages will be competing at the Indoor Championship. Age groups for girls and boys start at 5 & 6 years old and under and go up to 17 & 18 years old. Participants who place 1st - 3rd in both individual and relay events will be receiving awards.
