AAU Cares: Side-Out Foundation; 48th AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships

07/21/2021

AAU Volleyball joined the Side- Out Foundation as an official Dig Pink Dig-A-Thon location to raise money for breast cancer research at this past year's Nationals.

To partake in the AAU Cares initiative, AAU Volleyball collaborated with the Side- Out foundation for the fourth year in a row. With this partnership, the AAU was honored to hold an official Dig Pink Dig-A-Thon at the 48th AAU Junior Nationals. Along with the action to raise money for breast cancer research, participants were encouraged to wear pink on the AAU’s Dig Pink Days.

For this year’s AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships, teams were able to raise $3,931 for the foundation. Adding to the grand total that now stands at over $23,000 during this four-year partnership. The donations that are made not only raise money for research but to different treatments that help further the lives of those living with stage IV breast cancer.

The AAU would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Asics Munciana Lorax. Besides raising the most money, the Lorax vicariously live through their team motto “UNLESS, someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not” by Dr. Seuss in his book The Lorax.

When speaking to coach Sara Roush she was able to further explain how this quote helps her team before coming to AAU Junior Nationals. “These words have guided our team this season. And now, as we prepare to compete at the 2021 AAU Junior National Volleyball Championship in Orlando in a few weeks, we’d like to be SOMEONE helping to fund stage IV breast cancer research by participation in AAU’s Dig Pink campaign.” Congratulations on your achievement and winning a free entry into next years tournament.

We would also like to give a tremendous thank you to all the teams that helped make this year so successful!
