PREVIEW: 2019 AAU Basketball Spring Fling

Spring has sprung in Orlando, Florida as the AAU hosts their annual girls’ basketball AAU Spring Fling. This year approximately 1,300 athletes from 102 teams will participate in the event.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Spring has sprung in Orlando, Florida as the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) hosts their annual girls’ basketball AAU Spring Fling. This year approximately 1,300 athletes from 102 teams will participate in the event. Competitors will range from fifth grade to freshman in high school and hail from five different eastern states, as well as the Bahamas.
 
Games will take place at both ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orlando Sports Center. Early registration will begin on Thursday, April 11 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the northeast pavilion of the Arena, continuing on Friday, April 12 from 2 – 9:30 p.m. Pool play will start on Friday with single elimination starting on Saturday, April 13. Sunday will wrap up bracket play with an award ceremony to follow.
 
Texas Elite Adidas Maroon (7th grade) will be in the hunt for another championship match up after making it to the final game in 2018. Beach City Wildcats (10th grade) are looking for back-to-back wins in the D3 division. Candace Parker’s Tampa Aces 2023 will be seeking for redemption this year after finishing runner up in the 7th grade D1 division in 2018. The 9th grade Queens and Space Coach Fury 2022 will also be looking for a comeback after taking the runner up finishes in the 8th grade division.
