Longtime AAU volunteer passes

Stan Atkinson, of the Iowa AAU District, had been part of AAU Gymnastics at the local and national level for many years
It is with heartfelt condolences that we announce the passing of longtime AAU volunteer, Stan Atkinson on March 25th.
Stan had been an integral part of the Iowa AAU District for many years, serving in many different capacities including Gymnastics Director and Lieutenant Governor in the2000’s.
Stan, also served the AAU at the national level, most notably as AAU Gymnastics National Chair as well as working on AAU national administrative committees such as the Nomination and Elections Committee, Insurance Committee, and Legislation Committee to name a few.
For his outstanding contributions to the AAU, he was named as a Presidential National Leadership Award recipient multiple times (in 1990 and 1993 respectively).
A celebration of life will take place Friday, April 12, from 3-5:30 p.m. at Grace Reformed Church, 520 Maxwell St., Waterloo, IA 50701, Pastor Dave Van Netten officiating.
