IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ
Washington State Bill HR 1824 – The Zachary Lystedt Law
The Washington State legislature recently adopted the Zachary Lystedt law to address the management of concussion and head injury in youth sports. The law requires all school districts and youth sports associations – including clubs which join the AAU - to be in compliance with policies adopted by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
If you are a club that uses school district facilities for practice, or to host events, you will be required to sign and submit a compliance form to the school. You will also need to provide proof of insurance which will be the generic insurance form, or the third party certificate obtained for the facility. The compliance form states that you have provided training to coaches, athletes, and the parents of athletes affiliated with your organization PRIOR to using the facility.
To assist you, the AAU is attaching a sample of the compliance form.

When obtaining your 2010 club membership with the AAU, or applying for an event sanction, we will remind you of this requirement.
One item of note, only the host organization, or the team practicing in the facility, is required to file this form. Teams, or athletes, participating from out-of-state, or those who do not use school district facilities are not required to file.
