AAU Cares: Back to School Giveaway in Kannapolis, North Carolina

AAU Cares: Back to School Giveaway in Kannapolis, North Carolina

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (September 6, 2017) - On August 19th, 2017, the Carolina Cardinals Optimist Club, an organization dedicated to community service programs that focus on bringing out the best in kids hosted a 'Back to School Giveaway' to raise funds for school supplies for the new school year.

AAU Track and Field Head of Clerks, Betty Parker, club president, along with other volunteers organized the day as a way to provide backpacks and other school supplies to needy youth in the Kannapolis area.

As part of the overall AAU Cares program
, the AAU track and field program made a donation of AAU t-shirts and backpacks to the event.

"Without the track and field donation,"
said Betty Parker. "we would not have had a successful day. The t-shirts were an added bonus that the children and parents were not expecting to receive."

Good luck in the school year to all those who attended the giveaway night.
