Lake Buena Vista, FL-- AAU Sport Stacking is pleased to present Steven Purugganan with the 2012 Joel Ferrell Outstanding Performance Award at the 2012 AAU Junior Olympic Games.
This award is named after former AAU President and Vice President of the US Olympic Committee, Joel Ferrell. Ferrell was chair of the AAU Junior Olympic Program for many years and was very instrumental in the growth of these Games. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding accomplishments and sportsmanship of an athlete representing each official sport at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
This year’s award was presented by Jill Fox, co-founder of Speed Stacks.
Purugganan is a 10
th grader from Bedford Corners, New York and attends Fox Lane High School. He is a first year member of the AAU. He is the Guinness World Record Holder for Sport Stacking and also a three-time overall world champion (2008-2010).
Besides his athletic accomplishments, Purugganan is also an outstanding student earning High Honor Roll in both middle school and his first year of high school.
