Marchan Adkins Elected 2nd Vice-President of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU)

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2024) – The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Board of Directors voted unanimously to elect Marchan Adkins as AAU 2nd Vice-President during the AAU board meeting on January 20, 2024.

Prior to his election as AAU 2nd Vice-President, Adkins was the Chair of the AAU Finance Committee, and member of AAU Conflict Committee and AAU Insurance Committees as well.

Adkins has been a volunteer with the AAU for nearly 30 years. He’s served as a board member and member of the Track and Field Executive Committee since 2008. He’s the current Lieutenant Governor of Central AAU in Illinois and has served as the Central AAU Track and Field District Sports Director since 2008. He also served as the Region 6B Coordinator since 2006.

Adkins is a long-standing pillar of the track and field community. He’s the founder and CEO of AdkinsTrak Timing, a full-service event and race management company that provides customized timing solutions to track and field, cross-country, and road racing events. Founded in 1999, AdkinsTrak began with the goal of applying the latest in sports timing technology to all levels of events. Now, the company services over 300 events annually – including many AAU events -- by providing custom timing software, online registration, and scoreboard display services.
 
A native of Rockford, Illinois, he’s brought dozens of track and field events to the area. His work earned him the Community Service award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. Adkins coached collegiate track and field until 2016 at Illinois Wesleyan University and has won three NCAA Division III Championships as coach. He was also recognized by the U.S. Track Coaches Association as the 2008 Division III Men’s Midwest Regional and National Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
In addition to his track and field accomplishments, Adkins is an IT professional specializing in data architecture with more than 32 years of experience working with Fortune 100 companies and the military. He’s also a disabled veteran with nine years of active service in the Army.
