JACKSON, Miss. (April 4, 2023) – AAU Track and Field is proud to announce that Jackson State University has become the second collegiate partner of the Motivate & Educate (ME) Internship Program.

The ME Program seeks to implement programs that motivate athletes in athletics as well as academics. The program will serve to educate students about the fundamentals of the various disciplines of track and field and help them develop and enhance life skills.

“Internships with organizations like the AAU provide students with real-world experience to help make their dreams a reality,” said Charles “Coach O” Oliver, AAU Second Vice President and Track and Field National Chair. “We are glad that Jackson State and Coach Mark Thorne share our goal of providing educational opportunities like this for students.”

AAU Track and Field will work with Jackson State’s athletic department to develop student outreach about the program as well as recruit potential candidates.

“It’s always an honor to work with and uplift our young people, especially in today’s environment,” said Mark Thorne, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field at Jackson State University. “We hope our student-athletes embrace this opportunity to intern with a nationally-renowned sports organization.”
